We wanted to infuse a sense of serenity and calm in the bathrooms at this downtown Chicago renovation project. The primary bath was completely transformed, replacing a single double vanity, tiny walk-in shower and whirlpool bath with separate vanities joined by a massive walk-in shower. In the kitchen, the layout was opened to the adjoining den and adjacent hallway, allowing the addition of a custom mirrored bar for more entertaining space. Glazed white oak was paired with deep olive bronze for the cabinetry while White River stone countertops added movement and depth throughout the space.

Pietra Grey Italian marble countertops pair with hammered gunmetal fixtures to lend a tailored, handsome appearance to the guest bath that also serves as a powder room for the home.

A bespoke finish on the cabinetry in the kitchen was inspired by birch bark with a sepia toned glaze hand applied over open-pore white oak, initially finished in cream. The effect highlights the grain of the wood and creates a rich, warm aesthetic.

Bathrooms and kitchens were once considered purely utilitarian spaces. We strive to ensure they are quite the contrary.
