The inspiration for this young family’s home in downtown Chicago drew from their vibrant energy and colorful personalities. While the clients originally asked for a greige interior, the suggestion of saturated color against a monochromatic backdrop was welcomed with open arms. Subtle patterns and textures add depth to this quiet interior while bold hues used on upholstery make the dramatic statements. Special attention was paid to the scale of the furniture so the clients could host large family gatherings, ensuring no one would be without a comfortable seat.

Simple forms require true attention to detail. The mitered joint of the dining table elevates this classic Parsons base with subtle style allowing the watercolor velvet dining chairs to take center stage.

What began as a desire for a greige interior, became a welcome embrace of a colorful vision, inspired directly by the passion and vibrancy of those who live there.
