The inspiration for this young family’s home in downtown Chicago drew from their vibrant energy and colorful personalities. While the clients originally asked for a greige interior, the suggestion of saturated color against a monochromatic backdrop was welcomed with open arms. Subtle patterns and textures add depth to this quiet interior while bold hues used on upholstery make the dramatic statements. Special attention was paid to the scale of the furniture so the clients could host large family gatherings, ensuring no one would be without a comfortable seat.

Clean, mitered corners of the Parson’s style walnut dining table offer a chic contrast to the shapely curves of the Klismos chairs and beaded crystal chandelier.

Chesterfield sofas were covered in Delft blue chenille, a fresh look for a traditional frame while classic Klismos dining chairs were given new life with coral velvet seats and a Jackson Pollack inspired textile by Holly Hunt. Phillip Jeffries grasscloth covers the walls, adding rich texture and depth to the space.

What began as a desire for a greige interior, became a welcome embrace of a colorful vision, inspired directly by the passion and vibrancy of those who live there.
