For this bachelor’s home, the goal was to respect the conservative details of the space while showcasing his own eclectic style. Black lacquered window frames and pale grey walls provided a tailored foundation, highlighting a curated selection of more colorful furnishings. Classic forms such as a Dunbar style sofa and George Nelson bench were paired with a traditional rug in saturated color, emphasizing the strong cobalt velvet. In the dining area, an assemblage of photographs from a 1980’s Fort Dearborn Chicago Photo Forum create a striking, graphic statement against the live-edge dining table and olive velvet chairs. It is this balance of traditional and modern forms that makes the home anything but ordinary.

A reading nook was created in the window-lined alcove of the living room, anchored by a of pair of Mid-century cane and mahogany armchairs and antique marble topped Parisian cafe table.

A nod to the client’s love for the local sports teams, an original Comisky Park stadium seat takes pride of place in the kitchen, turning an unused corner into a gallery like installation.

Adding distinctive, one of a kind items creates a home layered with history and personality, making the space truly unique to its owner.
