For a couple temporarily relocating from the east coast with nothing but their wardrobes, the challenge was to create a home that felt warm and inviting even though it would only be used for twenty-four months. Drawing inspiration from the ethereal quality of the Chicago winter landscape, a palette of warm white and taupe accented with crystalline blue and dark steel was developed to soften the stark modernity of the new construction high-rise.

While the living space may not have been grand, the quiet, tonal aesthetic and well scaled selections provided an airiness to the home and drew attention to the beautiful views of Lake Michigan.

The perfect shade of hydrangea blue on the back of the entry door, a subtle reminder of the client’s east coast garden, was a truly personal touch to make this new space feel like home.
